Are both, women and men not allowed to perform Nafl Salaah before the Eid Salaah is performed?

Q. I heard that one should not perform Nafl Salaah before the Eid Salaah on the day of Eid. Is it the same for women at home who do not perform Eid Salaah on the day of Eid? Can they perform Ishraaq Salaah whilst their husbands are gone for Eid Salaah to the Eid Gah?

A. It is Makrooh (disliked) to perform any form of Nafl (optional) Salaah prior to the performance of the Eid Salaah, at home or in the Masjid/Eid Gah, upon those whom Eid Salaah is Waajib (compulsory) and upon those whom Eid Salaah is not Waajib (compulsory). Thus, this applies to males and females.

However, one may perform Nafl Salaahs, Salaatul-Ishraaq, Salaatud-Duha etc. at home after returning from the Masjid/Eid Gah. (Haashiyatut-Tahtaawi Ala Maraaqil Falaah 1/531-532). Hence, females at home may perform Nafl Salaahs after the Eid Salaah terminates or after their husbands return from the Masjid/Eid Gah.
