Donating towards the construction of a church

Q. My non-Muslim colleague is doing a fund raising for a construction of a church. Is it okay for me to donate towards the fundraising of the construction of the church?

A. It is not permissible for a Muslim to donate towards the building or construction of a church as it is assisting in evil. Allah Ta’ala mentions:

“And do not assist each other in sin and oppression” (Maaidah)

The donations should rather be used to build or construct a Musjid or in an avenue that will be a means of benefit to Deen.
