Q. In the heat of a divorce argument, if a husband said to his wife, “I give you Talaaq” (with a Taa and not a Thaa) or “I give you Talaak” (with a Kaaf and not a Qaaf) or “I give you Talaagh” (with a Ghayn and not an Ayn), does the Talaaq still count?
A. If a husband uses words of Talaaq in the specific format of Talaaq such as, “I give you Talaaq” (تلاق – with a Taa) or “I give you Talaak” (طلاك – with a Kaaf) or “I give you Talaagh” (طلاغ – with a Ghayn), the issuance of Talaaq will count as valid regardless of the incorrect pronunciation of the word Talaaq (طلاق).
