Inserting a wet finger in the rectum whilst fasting

Q. Does the inserting of ones finger in one’s anus to clean oneself in the toilet whilst fasting break the fast?

A. The fast will not break by inserting a finger in the anus whilst cleaning oneself of impurities in the toilet. The fast will only break if a wet finger is inserted in the rectum whilst fasting knowingly or unknowingly.

In such a case, only a Qadha of that fast will have to be kept. (Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah 10/142)
