Performing Janaazah Salaah after Fajr and Asr Salaah and reciting Surah Faatihah in Janaazah Salaah

Q. I have a few questions on Janaazah Salaah in the Haram.

In the Haram I have noticed that Janaazah Salaah takes place after Fajr and Asr and I have learnt that there is no Salaah after Fajr and Asr. Is this correct?

I also heard the Imaam of the Haram recite Surah Faatihah in Janaazah Salaah. Can I read it?

How many Salaams are there in Janaazah Salaah? One or Two? In the Haram I have seen the Imaam make one Salaam. What should I do? I follow the Hanafi Mazhab.

A. The general rule is that there is no Salaah (Nafl) offered after the Fajr and Asr Salaah. The performance of Janaazah Salaah is excluded from this rule and is permissible to perform during these times. (Shaami 1/376)

There is no recital (Qiraah) of Surah Faatihah in Janaazah Salaah. If one wishes to recite Surah Faatihah in Janaazah Salaah, one may recite it with the intention of Dua. (Faataawa Mahmoodiyyah 13/107)

There exists a difference of opinion in the number of Salaams in Janaazah Salaah. In any case, it would suffice by making one Salaam in Janaazah Salaah behind an Imaam who makes one Salaam in Janaazah Salaah. (Kitaab-ul-Fataawa 3/173/174)
