Can a person build a house and give it as Zakaat to a Zakaat recipient?

Q. Can a person build a house and give it as Zakaat to a Zakaat recipient?

A. It is permissible to build a house and give it with the intention of Zakaat to an eligible recipient of Zakaat. (Ahsanul Fataawa 4/300) In doing so, the market value should be realized in calculating a persons discharged amount of Zakaat.
