Intending a divorce but not verbally saying it

Q. I intended giving my wife a divorce but I did not verbally say it. Is my Nikah valid or not?

A. The mere intention of a divorce does not constitute a divorce.

Hence, if a husband intends issuing a divorce to his wife without issuing it verbally or in writing, the marriage is valid and husband and wife are legally married in Islam.
