Q. Can a Musaafir lead and perform Jumuah Salaah on a journey?

A. The performance of Jumuah Salaah is not compulsory (Waajib) upon a Shari’ Musaafir i.e. one who travels a distance of 78 km or more. A Musaafir should perform Zuhr Salaah and not Jumuah Salaah.

However, if there are four mature males present for Jumuah and a Musaafir leads them in the Jumuah Khutbah and Salaah, the Jumuah performed will be valid. (Al Mabsoot 1/249)
