Q. What is the benefit of reading Quran and sending the reward to a child that passed away and was not Baaligh when they are already Ma’soom?
A. When a child (non-Baaligh) passes away, he/she is considered pardoned (Ma’soom) and is not in need of any forgiveness. Having said that, this does not mean that sending reward (Esaal-e-Sawaab) like the recital of Quran etc. to the child is of no benefit. Indeed, the recital of Quran etc. for the child benefits the child and is a means of the child’s elevation of status in the Hereafter. (Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah 9/238/239)
