What is the Islamic ruling on celebrating Halloween? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A.<\/strong> The celebration of Halloween originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes and eating sweet treats.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of Shariah, it will not be permissible to participate in the celebration of Halloween as it is based on un-Islamic practices and beliefs. As Muslims, we are required to preserve our beliefs and not imitate un-Islamic practices.
