Is Janaazah Salaah necessary for a person who commits suicide? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A. <\/strong>The act of committing suicide is a severe sin that is accompanied with severe punishment. Such a person will continuously be punished in the same manner that he had taken his life. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWhoever commits suicide with something, will be punished with the same thing in the Fire<\/em><strong><em>.<\/em><\/strong><em>\u201d<\/em> <strong>(Bukhari)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, the act of suicide does not constitute Kufr and hence, a person remains a Muslim. Therefore, it would be necessary to perform Janaazah Salaah for a person that committed suicide.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> The amount of suicide deaths has increased to a considerable amount amongst Muslims and especially amongst the youth in recent times.
