Many men abuse their wives sometimes physically and sometimes emotionally. What is the status of physical and emotional abuse within marriages in Islam?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A.<\/strong> It is important to note that marriage is a relationship that is based on mutual love and respect. A couple should honor and respect the rights of each other and should not abuse one another physically or emotionally. In doing so, a marriage will be unstable and would be devoid of any blessings.<\/p>\n<p>In Islam, physical and emotional abuse is totally condemned.<\/p>\n<p>Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said \u201cA Muslim is he who others are saved from the abuse of his tongue (emotional) and hand (physical).\u201d <strong>(Musnad Ahmad)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam also said \u201cA person whose neighbor is not safe from his evil, will never enter Jannah.\u201d <strong>(Musnad Ahmad)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>May Allah protect our brothers and sisters from such abuse and may He instill love and respect in our marriages.
