Is it permissible to give ones pet an Arabic name? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A. <\/strong>It is permissible to give ones pet an Arabic name. There is nothing wrong in doing so.<\/p>\n<p>As an example, the name of Rasulullallah Sallallahu alayhi Wasallam\u2019s she-camel was <strong><em>Qaswaa\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, the name of his horse was <strong><em>Luhaif<\/em><\/strong> and the name of his donkey was <strong><em>Ufair <\/em><\/strong>and stated in the Ahadith.<\/p>\n<p>However, one should not give one\u2019s pet names of the Prophets (Ambiyaa) of Allah and the Companions (Sahaabah) of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam due to their status and honour and to avoid showing any form of disrespect and disregard to their personalities.<\/p>\n<div class=\"section the_content has_content\">\n<div class=\"section_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"the_content_wrapper\">\n<p><strong>Allah Ta\u2019ala Knows Best<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mufti Ismaeel Bassa<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>themufti.com<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Is it permissible to give ones pet an Arabic name?
