Q. How can a woman in Haidh ensure that she does not forget her Hifz of the Quran if she cannot recite Quran in the state of Haidh?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A.<\/strong> According to the Hanafi Mazhab (school of thought) it is impermissible for a woman in Haidh (menstrual period) to recite Quraan. Consider the following Ahadeeth:<\/p>\n

A woman in Haidh (menstruation) should not recite Quraan (Musannaf ibne Abi Shaibah, Vol. 1, Pg. 98,<\/strong><\/em> Maktabatur Rushd-Riyaadh)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

A woman who is her Haidh (menstruation) and Nifaas (child birth bleeding) should not recite anything from Quraan (Sunane Daarre Quthni, Vol. 2, Pg. 462, Muassissatur Risaalah-Beirut-Lebanon)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

A woman who is her Haidh (menstruation) and a person who is in the state of Janaabat (major impurity) should not recite anything from Quraan except a portion of a verse or a letter or something like that.<\/em> (Tirmidhi, Vol. 1, Pg. 195, Daarul Qarbul Islaami-Beirut)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

However, you may consider the following options in order to keep up the memorization of the Quraan:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Looking inside the Qur\u2019an without reading the Quraan or touching the Qur\u2019an.<\/li>\n
  2. Listening to someone reading the Quraan.<\/li>\n
  3. Using lip movement without uttering the words of Quraan.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    It is hoped that the above methods will assist in keeping up the memorization process of Holy Quraan.<\/p>\n
