Can a person perform Qurbani on the 13<sup>th<\/sup> of Zul-Hijjah or after the days of Eid?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A.<\/strong> The time to perform Qurbani\/slaughter is from the 10<sup>th<\/sup>of\u00a0Zul-Hijjah after Eid Salaah until the sunset of the 12<sup>th<\/sup>of\u00a0Zul-Hijjah.\u00a0The best day to perform Qurbani is on the 10<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of\u00a0Zul-Hijjah, followed by the 11<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0and then the 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of\u00a0Zul- Hijjah. Accordingly, it is not permissible or valid to perform Qurbani on the 13<sup>th<\/sup> of Zul-Hijjah or later.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, if Qurbani was compulsory (Waajib) upon a person and one did not perform Qurbani during the days of Qurbani\/slaughter, one must compensate for the missed (Qadha) Qurbani, by giving the value of a live Qurbani animal in charity. If one purchased a Qurbani animal, then one may give the live Qurbani animal in charity or its value. <strong>(Shaami 6\/320, Ahnsanul Fataawa 7\/480)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Giving a live Qurbani animal in charity refers to given it as a whole animal to the poor and needy (Zakaat recipients) to do as they wish with it.
