Can one feed the poor on the day of Aashura and receive the same reward of feeding on the day of Aashura?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A.<\/strong> In general, whilst feeding or giving charity is rewarding, the reward of feeding on the day of Aashura is specific to feeding one\u2019s family i.e. one\u2019s dependants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: \u201cWhoever generously spends on his <strong>family<\/strong> on the day of \u2018Aashura, Allah Ta\u2019ala will expand his sustenance (Barakah) for the rest of that year.\u201d <strong>(Shu\u2019bul Imaan)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, if one feeds others besides one\u2019s dependants on the day of Aashura, one will <strong>not<\/strong> receive the specific reward of feeding one\u2019s family on the day of Aashura.
