However, my friend was fasting and the girl was in the state of menstruation. Is the marriage consummated in that state? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A. <\/strong>In order for a Nikah to be correctly consummated <em>(Khalwah Saheehah),<\/em> there must exist <strong>no Shari\u2019 and physical limitations<\/strong> for the spouses to engage in conjugal relations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, if after the Nikah was performed, husband and wife met in private and the husband was keeping the <strong>fast of Ramaadaan<\/strong> <em>(Shari\u2019 limitation),<\/em> the marriage with his wife will <strong>not<\/strong> be <strong>consummated.<\/strong> However, if the husband was keeping an <strong>optional\/Nafl fast<\/strong>, the marriage with his wife will be <strong>consummated.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, if the wife was in the <strong>state of menstruation<\/strong> <em>(Shari\u2019 &amp; Physical limitation),<\/em> the marriage with her husband will <strong>not<\/strong> be <strong>consummated.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>N.B.<\/strong> It is not necessary for husband and wife to engage in conjugal relations to consummate the marriage.
