Q. I had a shop that I sold. The new owner of the shop asked me to arrange with my supplier to supply him with the same stock that I used to receive before I sold the shop to him. My supplier would supply the new owner of the shop because of me at low cost and I would be taking a fixed commission from the new owner of each item sold by my supplier to the new owner. For e.g. the item is R10 and I will be taking a R2 commission per item. Is this correct?
A. In the enquired case, since, you are the agent of the new owner of the shop and you are an intermediary in arranging for the supplier to supply the new owner of the shop, it would be permissible for you to take a fixed commission from the new owner of the shop for each item sold by your supplier to the new owner of the shop.
