Permissibility of inbreeding animals

Q. At our farms, we breed animals. At times, we inbreed them for various reasons. Will this affect the Halaal status of animals?

A. The inbreeding of animals refers to animals breeding or mating from close related species. This practice does not affect the Halaal or Haraam status of an animal in any away as there is no kind of “incest” or prohibition amongst animals in this regard.

The Halaal and Haraam status of animals would be governed by the Shariah laws of Zaabeeha (slaughtering) and not by them being inbred.
