Q. Is it prescribed by Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam in the Hadith that Duas are accepted on a Wednesday and should be made between Zuhr and Asr?
A. Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam did not prescribe making Dua specifically on a Wednesday between Zuhr and Asr Salaah as a preferred time of Dua and neither did he state that Duas are accepted on Wednesdays between Zuhr and Asr Salaah.
The understanding of Dua’s being accepted on Wednesdays between Zuhr and Asr Salaah stems from the practice and experience of a Sahaabi, Jaabir Radhiyallahu Anhu who reports: “Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam made supplication in this Masjid, Masjid-ul -Fath, on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and it was answered for him between the two prayers, Zuhr and Asr on Wednesday.” Jabir Radhiyallahu Anhu said, “Whenever anything serious happened to me and I singled out that time and made supplication to Allah concerning it, I found it accepted.” (Shu’bul Imaan)
Nevertheless, it is permissible to make Dua on Wednesdays between Zuhr and Asr Salaah.
