Q. Is Zakaat payable on sterling silver jewellery?

A. Zakaat is payable on silver items/jewellery that have more than 50% silver content in them.

Accordingly, Zakaat is payable on sterling silver found in jewellery as the silver content is more than 50% (92.5% fine silver). (Hidaayah 1/102)
