A managing agent collect a higher rental to keep the excess for himself

Q. Can a managing agent collect a higher rental amount than the amount stipulated by the landlord from the tenant and keep the excess for himself?

A. A managing agent of a landlord acts on behalf of the landlord (Wakeel) under an agreement. If the agreement does not mandate the managing agent to collect a higher rental amount from the tenant, it is not permissible for the managing agent to collect a higher rental amount or keep the excess for himself unless the agreement allows the managing agent to do so.
